Power cord sourcing by destination
A power cord should be specified as a complete assembly, not only by plug shape. The destination market, equipment inlet, voltage, current, grounding, flexible cable, length, strain relief, marking and approval documents all affect the final cord set.
Typical enquiries include appliance cords, IT and office-equipment cords, external power-supply leads and industrial-equipment connection cords. Exact plug and connector availability is confirmed during quotation.
Assembly information to confirm
| Component | RFQ information |
|---|---|
| Destination plug | Country or market, plug designation, grounding and any fuse requirement |
| Flexible cord | Cable designation, conductor size, core count, colour and required marking |
| Equipment end | IEC 60320 connector, stripped end, terminals or another specified interface |
| Electrical duty | Equipment voltage, current, power and operating environment |
| Mechanical details | Overall length, strain relief, bend direction and handling requirement |
| Documents and packing | Required approval evidence, label, individual packing, carton and shipping mark |
Regional standards and approvals
Projects may reference VDE 0620, UL 817, BS 1363, AS/NZS 3112, IEC 60320-1 or another national or component standard. These references are not interchangeable. Approval and marking must be checked for the exact plug, flexible cord and equipment connector combination supplied.
No generic family statement should be treated as proof that every configuration carries every regional approval.
Quality control
Every finished power cord undergoes 100% continuity testing before shipment. If the project requires additional polarity, grounding, insulation-resistance, dielectric or dimensional tests, list them in the RFQ so the inspection plan and documents can be confirmed.
How to request a quotation
Provide destination country, plug type, equipment connector, voltage, current, conductor size, cable designation, length, grounding, colour, marking, quantity, packing, destination and required approval documents. We provide a detailed quotation within 24 hours after receiving the complete request.
Frequently asked questions
Can one power cord approval cover every plug and cable combination?
No. Approval scope depends on the exact components, ratings, construction, marking and documentation.
What if the equipment connector is not IEC 60320?
Send a drawing, photograph or component specification. The termination and strain-relief requirements can then be reviewed with the flexible cord and plug.
